Afternoon visit to the National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology and History on Kildare Street exhibits Ireland’s world famous collection of Bronze Age gold ornaments and unparalleled Irish early Christian treasures such as the Ardagh Chalice, the Derrynaflan Hoard, the Tara Brooch, the Shrine of St Patrick’s Bell and the recently restored Tully Lough Cross. The Kildare St. Museum also houses the Viking Ireland and Medieval Ireland galleries; the former with the artefacts recovered in the Wood Quay excavations.  Meet outside school at 14.00

Greyhound Racing at Shelbourne Stadium (See Map).  The racing starts at 20.00 and finishes at 22.20 hrs.  Facilities at the stadium include an indoor viewing area and outdoor stand.  Full bar and restaurant.  You can place a 2 Euro bet on each race or just watch the action.  Meet Colin Horner outside the Stadium at 19.45.  The racing will finish at 22.30 hours approximately (you can leave earlier if you wish).  The best way to get to the stadium is to take bus number 3 from O’ Connell Street (10 mins journey) or get the DART train to Barrow Street Station (5 min walk to stadium).

Afternoon visit to the New Guinness Storehouse where you will learn about the craft of Guinness brewing.  You will also visit the panoramic bar at the top of the building for a free pint of the “black stuff”.    Meet outside the Dublinia Exhibition (beside Christchurch Cathedral) at 14.20

Kilmainham Jail, Guided Tour of the Old Prison- Unoccupied prison famous for its political history. This guided tour is very interesting you will learn a lot about Ireland’s history and the struggle for independence. Meeting at Trinity College Main Gate at 14:30. We will take the bus to Kilmainham (10 mins journey).

Visit Dublin Castle, The State Apartments, Undercroft & Royal Chapel.  Dublin Castle  is located in the centre of Dublin City.  A Viking Fortress originally stood at this site, a portion of which is on view at the Undercroft.  During later times Dublin Castle was the seat of English rule in Ireland. See list for meeting time etc.
