Immigration update 21/05/2020
For students that have remained in Ireland during the Covid Pandemic crisis:
The following information is taken from the INIS updated FAQ document (see below):
“Student Immigration Permissions that are due to expire from 20/5/2020 to 20/7/2020 are now automatically renewed by the Minister for a period of 2 months. The renewal of permission is on the same basis as the existing permission and the same conditions attach “.
Q 25. My permission was automatically renewed by two months; am I required to re-enrol in a new course, and if so, can I wait until the end of the two months before doing so?
A. The renewal of permission is on the same basis as the existing permission and the same conditions attach. For students, this means you you must also re-enrol in a course of study. This must be done as soon as the previous course is completed and failure to do so will be considered a breach of the permission which may result in your future registration being refused.
Q 26. My current course/ new course has moved to online study due to COVID-19. I didn’t move to Ireland to do online study; can I pause my course until physical classes return or resume?
A. No. While it is appreciated that students have travelled to Ireland to avail of in-person classes, unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, this is not possible at this time. Anyone resident in Ireland with a student permission is required to attend scheduled classes and, in the current circumstances, this includes where classes are provided online.

Update: Monday 23 March 2020
We understand that everyone is experiencing extremely difficult circumstances now due to the Covid-19 virus situation. Our lives have been turned upside down and we are worried about our future. Our hearts and thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.
During this last week, we have been inundated by requests for assistance from students already attending a course and others soon to arrive. Many flights were cancelled and this resulted in stranded students requiring emergency assistance with accommodation. We have been working long hours every day to sort out the problems and thankfully we now feel that we are bringing the situation under control. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide support and assistance to the remaining students as best we can.
Ongoing Issues: Reopening Date
We are constantly asked when the school will re-open for face to face classes and if we have more information from the Irish Government. At this moment (Monday 23rd March 2020) we have not received any new information from the Irish authorities. We are not in a position to say exactly when we will be allowed to reopen. The Covid-19 situation is changing daily, it is likely that the initial two week closure will be extended past 29th March 2020.
Ongoing Issues: Digital learning Package
We are now contacting the enrolled students affected by this closure order to give them access to a New Digital Learning Platform. The new learning platform is a self study and diagnostic system. If you are currently enrolled and were attending classes at Horner School, you will be contacted by our Director of Studies, to give you login access to this new online system. We are working on this now as I speak.
We will share more detailed information with you as these events unfold and as we receive further updates from the government.
In the meantime, stay safe and stay well.
