In preparation for the Test of Interactive English, candidates are required to:

  1. Carry out An Investigation (Or Mini Project) on any topic of personal interest.  Do your research, gather information (and note the information in your LOGBOOK).
  2. Read a book in English.  A graded reader is also accepted (ask the school for a graded reader).  Make some notes in your LOGBOOK about the characters and the story.  Be prepared to speak Or write about it, during the TIE examination.
  3. Follow a NEWS Story and make some notes about that story in your LOGBOOK
  4. Keep a Logbook, In which you record all the notes and information about the investigation; the book; and the news story.

The Logbook is a folder in which Candidates record the information about the preparation they have undertaken (i.e., the investigation, news story, book). It may be hand-written or typed. The logbook is NOT assessed or awarded a grade; however, the logbook must be shown to the examiner in order to fulfil the examination requirements. Candidates must bring their logbook to the examination session.
